Arsenal Women looking towards a permanent move to the Emirates Stadium

The Gunners are in Great Form

Arsenal Women are through to the UWCL semi-finals after defeating Bayern Munich 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium on March 29th.

The team is having a huge season having won the Continental Cup last month and hoping to lift both the Super League and Women’s Champions League trophies at the end of the season.

Injured Arsenal start, Vivianne Miedema, believes that with these results, the team could aspire to a permanent move to the Emirates Stadium, therefore elevating the recognition of Women’s football.

“As a club we’re doing it well. We’re playing a lot of games there, we’re getting a lot of people in.”

This season, thousands of spectators have attended their games at the mythical stadium.

“I think I saw something about West Ham having not played at their stadium at all this year. We need to push for that, I think we deserve it."

“We always say the men’s stadium, but it’s the club’s stadium. All clubs should push for that. Once we get there, we’ll get more people in.”

In good news, Arsenal chief executive Vinai Venkatesham has confirmed in November that it was the club’s “long-term vision” for both the men’s and women’s teams to play at the Emirates (The Telegraph).

Arsenal Women have high-profile supporters

This also comes days after Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta congratulated the women’s team on their recent form. During a press conference for one of his own games he took a few moments to bring awareness to the UWCL.

“It was beautiful… It was great to have the experience to live it there and the crowd that we had in the game. Especially the way they played – in the first half it was a real joy to watch.”

He continued on his hopes for a turnaround in results and great future.

“It is a big achievement, it hasn’t happened for many, many years at the club and we have to catch them up. This is the beauty of it, getting things inside the club that are inspiring for each other and can make us closer and better.”
