Rugby World Cup 2025: High hopes for host country England

Rugby World Cup 2025

“If we can fill out Twickenham, like the football girls filled out Wembley, that is so good for women’s sport” – Zoe Harrison for the Daily Mail.

The Red Roses will look to end their World Cup final miseries in the next tournaments edition, to be held on home soil in 2025.

England have been at the top of the Rugby World for many years, reaching 8 finals out of the 9 possible. Since lifting the trophy in 2014 they have lost both finals (2017 & 2021), falling short to New Zealand as they seem unable to overcome the Black Ferns.

The Future

Looking ahead to their next World Cup campaign (Rugby World Cup 2025), the RFU will look to attract massive home crowds, in hopes of lifting the Trophy for a third time, in an 80 000 people sold-out Twickenham.

Zoe Harrison, the 24 year old Fly-back has very high hopes of achieving these goals, something often seen in the men's categories but is yet to happen in a woman's game.

“Loads of girls are now taking up the sport and there's so much more interest. It would be nice to see the growth over the last few years, especially with this World Cup with everyone watching, translated into filling out every stadium for the 2025 World Cup (GiveMeSport).”

In even better news, the English team has been selling out other stadiums across the UK for several months now meaning that a potential sold out Twickenham stadium could happen earlier than expected, for their first headline match in the 2023 TikTok Six Nations encounter against France.

Very good news for Women’s rugby as it seems to be growing in spectator’s hearts.
