Goodbyes
This extraordinary atmosphere also set the scene for two particular farewells in the women’s game.
France fly-half, Jessy Trémoulière hung her boots following France’s last match in the tournament. But despite the gloomy ending she managed to find the positive and recalled her debut in the rugby world a few weeks later.
“When I started, there were 200 people and I finished in front of 58,000 people. We see the extent that women’s rugby has taken, in France or abroad. Everyone enjoyed themselves, there was a great show, it bodes well for future generations. These are beautiful images that will remain engraved for a long time.” (News in France)
Jessy was voted player of the year back in 2010, and again player of the decade two years later. A very impressive career that comes to an end.

In addition, Simon Middleton, Red Roses head coach has resigned after eight years in office. He left with an incredible feeling of gratitude towards his staff and players:
"You couldn't wish for more than this. It's been an honour and privilege to do this job. I have been very lucky.
"The girls should be massively proud of what they are doing. I am so proud.
"To produce a game like that on a stage like this is everything that is good about the game. It's been incredible. It's a great learning experience that second half and they will continue to grow.
"This game has given me more than I've ever dreamed of. It's been an exceptional day that I will never forget.
"You live for moments like lifting the trophy. They (the team) deserve all the success they get." (BBC)
